Refunds and cancellations

Last updated: 2026-05-26

Contributions to Oragent are voluntary gifts to the maintainer, not purchases of a product or license. That said, mistakes happen — wrong amount, double-tap, second thoughts. This page is the policy for those cases, written to match Stripe's expectations for displayed refund and cancellation terms.

The nature of a contribution

When you contribute through the support page, you are sending a personal gift to the maintainer. You are not buying a license, unlocking a feature, or entering a subscription. The software remains free for everyone under the Oragent Free Use License regardless of whether you contribute. Nothing material changes hands, so there is nothing to "return" in the e-commerce sense — but you can ask for your money back on the terms below.

Refund window

Within 14 days of a contribution, we will refund the full amount for any reason, no questions asked. The window starts on the date Stripe records the charge.

After 14 days, we still review refund requests case by case. Genuinely accidental charges — a duplicate, a wrong tier tapped, a typo in a custom amount — are refunded outside the window. Change-of-mind requests outside the window are handled on a best-effort basis.

How to request a refund

Open an issue at github.com/oragent-ai/oragent/issues. Title it "refund request" and include either the Stripe receipt id, the email used at checkout, or the last four digits of the card. If you'd prefer not to share details in a public issue, just say so and we'll move to a private channel before you send anything sensitive.

We aim to confirm receipt within 5 business days. Submitting a refund request does not require justification; we will not ask why.

Processing time and Stripe fees

Once approved, Stripe initiates the refund to the original payment method. The funds typically appear on the customer's statement in 5 to 10 business days, depending on the card issuer and bank.

Stripe's processing fee on the original charge is non-refundable from Stripe's side — this is Stripe's standard policy, not ours. The maintainer absorbs that small loss on genuine refund cases; you receive the full amount you contributed back to your card.

Failed, duplicate, or pending charges

If Stripe declines a charge or you see a "pending" entry that never settles, no action is needed: pending authorizations release automatically within a few days. If you see two completed charges for the same contribution, file an issue with both receipt ids and we will refund the duplicate without counting it against the 14-day window above.

Chargebacks and disputes

Please contact us before filing a chargeback with your card issuer. A direct refund settles in days; a chargeback takes 60 days or more and costs the maintainer the original contribution plus Stripe's chargeback fee.

We do not contest legitimate chargebacks — if something is wrong, getting your money back is the priority. We only ask that you give the direct channel a chance first.

Subscriptions and recurring charges

Oragent does not offer subscriptions, recurring billing, or auto-renewals. Every contribution is a one-time charge. If you ever see a recurring charge attributed to Oragent on your statement, it is an error — file an issue immediately and we will refund and investigate.
